I love my recurve Emerson commander as well. I don't wear it much anymore. My Swarden is my usual EDC now and when I want a big folder I usually use my chinook3.

Another favourite folder is my Lambert Whar custom. It is so nice and flashy.

Is there anyone who is not going to get a Spyderco Tenacious? 25$ for a nice folder is just to good a deal. I have a Byrd made of the same steel and it is quite good. According to a recent Blade mag article it is closest to ATS-34.

what kind of demonstration are you looking for Sharp???

the main reason i dont 'EDC' the ZT is because it isnt "waved",i'm addicted to waved although i'm not addicted to chisel ground edges that all emersons have.

another thing i take into consideration about what i EDC is law enforcement.the whole reason emerson gave the cqc-14 a 2.7in blade is so it could be carried anywhere.its unfortunate i have to even worry about it and while new york doesnt have a blade length limit law they might as well.a lot of the cops here dont even know that.

i think a cop would get his panties in a bunch way quicker over the ZT than the tiny emerson although i dont think he'd like that either.

some people will say that if you dont do anything wrong nobody will ever find your knife.thats true 99% of the time.

you should've seen how the police reacted when they saw the $6 machette i got at wal-mart in my back seat on my way back home from a hiking trip with my son.

you just never know what kind of cop you will get.the one who lives next door to me is the coolest guy ever but the one who lives across the street harrases the whole neighborhood.

the ZT is to big, serious and EXPENSIVE.they're gonna ask why i need to cary a knife like that for and then they pocket it.thats what happened last time.when i asked for his first name so i could fight it in court he said,"how about i just put you under arrest and then you can fight it in court that way".......what are you gonna do.

i really dont have any animosity toward police.its just that it is a fact as a knive collector and lover that i cant take'em with me,at least not in this state

i think they are more likely to accept a folder than a fixed blade evn when its a small one which is why i'm kind of scared to carry any of my wardens.i cant afford to loose them.

where i carry my ZT and any other knife i feel like, including LARGE fixed blades is when i go camping or hiking in a remote place.

whith all that said.....{where did all that come from?}.....the ZT really impressed me.i have to admit that when i first saw their knives i wasnt impressed at all.it wasnt until i saw a nice clip of a guy holding it on youtube and him saying he liked it better than his striders in every aspect that i moved on it and then when i got it in my hand i fell in love.

That sucks man.

A friend of mine here is a cop and he recently took a couple of nice fixed blades off a teenage shitrat on the subway. He's going to give the dad (the kid stole them from Dad) a chance to get them back. One's a custom, the other an old Mad Dog fighter. I'd hate to see either go for destruction.

Too bad some people in LE feel a need to throw their weight around like that. In my experience, most cops are great people. It only takes a few though. Ask any motorcyle rider about that.

Whoa there, let's not stray too far from the trail.

I don't have any problems with policemen, though yesterday I got into an awkward conversation at this cutlery store. Really, really, really, odd.

This policeman just walked in, a friend of the guy at the counter, and just started talking. He seemed quite educated, knew a great deal about language and could speak several.

The awkward part was that we started discussing a bit about my future plans in career. I'm kinda of the person who's willing to study medicine. So, for some reason (apparently financial benefits) the policeman recommended that if I do go into medicine, I should look, and maybe get involve, with urological implants.

I'll just leave it there... no idea... and no I will not go into urology!!!!

And... yes a very awkward conversation but let's leave it there. OK?

You know... just a sort of cutting test. I don't know, you come up with one.

I guess something similar to HD's beloved tests would be great. I just want to see the 300 series in action. I already know the 0200 are definitely very good because Cloak has one.

I'm hoping to purchase one of the TAD Gear LE with CF or DigiCamo. Expensive, yes, but then again who wouldn't want one or two?

me straying off the trail could be some form of ADD...what where we just talking about???....oh yeah,folders?!?!?!?!......right????.....huh???....O.K.,i'm back.

i do all types off little Horn Dog type tests with all my fixed blades and choppers.i never did anything with my folders and it may be because their use is somewhat limited to cutting only.

i'll tell ya right now,the chisel grind does have some limits on it if ya ask me.the grind is on one side so i'd have to do fuzz sticks with my left hand and i'm right handed.bottom line, emersons just werent made for outdoorsy type activities.tactical is the name of the game with Ernies imo.more of a flesh slicer that wood whittler....hey,i didnt design it i just bought it,and carried it.

i did do some battoning with the ZT.i wouldnt recomend it.nothing bad really happened but i just wouldn recomend it.

I keep going back and fourth between the ZT300. I'd rather have one without the assisted opening. I think a manual opener would have less problems under most conditions.

I have gone wave crazy, my current folder wishlist contains a waved endura 4 and a emerson PE satin commander.
My ziptie modded griptilian will have to do for now.

I carried a 2000 dated PE commander for years and I loved the wave but I was never satisfied with the liners. They are thin and the titanium is soft and it just didn't lock up solid enough for me. One the plus side, the deep belly makes it a lot less likely that you could compromise the lock under normal stabbing or cutting. The pocket clip screws stripped right out of it so now its more of a $150 paper weight on my dresser. I do use it occasionally. The waved spydies are much better slicers, lock better and carry a lot easier. They open better too. My dream folder would be a waved CE G10 lockback Spyderco in H1 or ATS-55.
