Hmmm. I like S30V a lot in a pocket knife sized blade. Hopefully my Manix will come tomorrow and I'll post some pix.

vg-10 and sandvik are my favorite stainless steels. s30v is good, but the premium you typically pay for it isn't usually justified. i really like my UKPK, a great performer, but 'lesser' stainless steels have higher toughness and are easier to sharpen.

I still like my Gerber multitools- I have an Evo 650 with the carbide cutter pliers and a Legend too. The Legend does lack a can opener (DOH!!) but my SAK Rucksack (OHT variant) covers that job and others nicely. Of the Gerber's I think the 650 is tougher and has the better tool mix. With replaceable saw blades and cutter inserts they make my Leatherman's look a bit second rate imho.
