Any reason why Autos use Aluminum rather than Titanium?

Every single auto (besides a few) use aluminum handles. Even custom ones. Why not Titanium?

A couple of days ago I decided to see what all the hulabloo is about Buck Strider knives so I obtained one of the 889 series in tan.(I know these are "entry level" striders)

I wasnt really expecting much but I have to say that when I got it I was impressed. Normally I dont prefer liner locks but this one locks up really solid. Overall it seems like a really tough EDC knife. I liked it enough to order another in OD today. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Anyone else have an opinion on these?

i have one. i used to like it. there are better cutters out there. there are tougher folders out there. the 889 lands somewhere in between. the lock is okay, though it fails the spine whack pretty easily. i never put too much emphasis on that, you cut in the opposite direction.

I always thought they were pretty good for the money.

I like how "higher end" models use ATS-34. A few older ones used BG-42. Good steel for not a lot of money.

No doubt there are better folders and if I had more cash Id get a ZT. Still the 889s seem sturdy enough for my EDC needs and at only $40 each its not a huge loss if one craps out.
