Well, since this got pushed back to the top, I've been looking at getting a new hard use folder.
I like 4" blades, and I've been considering either the Emerson CQC 15 or the Benchmade 710. The problem is, I have no experience with Emersons.
Any Emerson fans out there want to share some knowledge?

Really? that's quite odd. I read somewhere that the CQC 15 had a V grind. Maybe it was made that way after production.

Emersons do have a Chisel grind, they call it a v grind but it is not a v grind as we know it.
Both sides of the blade are conventional V grinds, but ONLY ONE SIDE has the actual edge sharpened. The "off side" is just like a scandi grind that does not have the secondary sharp edge on it.
I hope this helps and does not confuse you. I have a CQC7 spear point and really like it. It's light compaired to some of my others and it just feels good in my hand.

Other than the grind, how do are emersons for hard use? I don't put a lot of trust in liner locks, so that's kind of a drawback for me.

I haven't really done what I would consider abused mine, but I think the lock (titanium as are the liners) are pretty stout. It SHOULD work ok. I've never had any issues with mine and I have done some not real bright things with mine.

That's great. I picked up two Camillus Boy Scout lockbacks at an old dealer last year, but I didn't get the Camillus display case. Is that an automatic?

I still have a HEST folder on pre-order, so I don't think I need a Henry. I carried those CS Voyagers for EDC for years and love their light weight, so you see how bubba-like proletarian I am. Not that I don't own and appreciate nicer more gentlemanly knives. But since I got my Rat Trap, I always seem to return to it. It's slim, sharp, big, and now that it is broken in, fast. I use it every day. But that Henry looks like a good EDC to me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
