Another question(s) for you all. Can you school me a little on benchmades? Is the axis lock all that? When it has that and says it's assisted, that's just a flipper or something no? How do they stack up with the kershaws? Thanks!

My collection doesn't have any Benchmades or Spydercos in it at this time. I'm gonna have to fix that soon....

The axis lock is SMOOTH. If you hold the lock back the blade will almost fall out all by it's self. It locks up rock solid. One you use one you will wish all knives had them, they're that easy to use. Now for the assisted opening part, can't help you. only have one assisted opener, a little CRKT.

I love the Axis lock from BM. I have played with the assisted opening BM with the Axis and really like them just have not pulled the trigger on one yet.

I have an orange Griptilian. It's the Ritter survival model. Very light and pocket friendly. BTW: I sold over $500 worth of excess knives at a bar last night. It's really a classy place, not one of those where you need a knife or a gun. We all had a good laugh about that. Steel is a good investment. Mad money for Busses!

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I have some Griptilans and mini-Griptilians and I love 'em. The feel great and the Axis Lock is truly smooth. Also I practice Martial Arts and Benchmade makes a Griptilian Trainer so you can practice your moves on friends

The mini grip has full liners. The full size grip has "Paired down" liners. But for self defense, either one of them should work I would think. You MIGHT take a look at the Aries and the Ruckus as well.
