Sounds interesting..almost like having different layers of gel with different hardening properties. The softest layer being closer to the body.

same idea as crumble zones. the idea of getting hit by a hard plate doesn't appeal to me. yes, disperses the energy, fewer lbs/in^2 so i'll take it over a small projectile.

Maybe a layer or this hardening jell backed by a more traditional jell pad.

I wonder how much gel it would take to be effective. The weight of the vest is certainly a factor especially if you are already carrying 40 lbs.

That 40 pounds i was referring to is the weight of the current iotv used by the army full loaded. A good bit of that is the thick ceramic plates
