Did this ever get cleared up ? Nope. So the question is...WILL it ever get cleared up? Maybe in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/2weeks.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> I'm still waiting for a 5-7" tanto. I know,I know... & will be for a looooooooong tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> I wasn't the first to say tanto,but I still want one.

If we all were sent a free knife, I think the yard members would be satisfied and this old thread could be closed for good.
Problem solved.

Don't know if this has been cleared up. So, I'll put in my idea. I'd like the see the blade design of the Busse SAR 5 come back but be given the Scrap Yard treatment. In other words, respirene C handles (of the Scrapper 5) instead of the micarta handles. The tang could protrude at the end a little, so it can be used as a glass breaker. Also, steel to be used could either be SR-101 or SR-77, blade would be 3/16" thick and 5" long. The blade could be renamed the Scrap Yard Scrapper 5 Recon Edition.

My two favorite knives are the SR M6 and the SYKCO S6. Two of the best, toughest and coolest 6" knives ever made.
I love the weight and res C grip S6.
The M6 is almost the perfect knife for me. SR101 differentially heat treated is my favorite. I can put a hair whittling edge on it and stays that way for quite a while. My only real gripe is the weight. I call it a tie between the grip comfort of the M6 and S6. The 3-4 ounces makes between that M6 and S6 can make a big difference when you have it on your belt all day.
I like timelord79's idea of the protruding tang and it gave me the idea for my perfect knife. Not for a glass breaker though. A while back I read a post that someone used their Cold Steel tanto to start a split in logs by hammering it tip first into middle of the log with a baton. I am sure it is not advised but the M6 excels at this task. I have never tried it with my S6 because I dont want to jack up the res C. But! If the S6 had a protruding tang I would not hesitate to try it.
My knife idea is a SYKCO Mutt 6 and SYKCO Mutt 6 Double Cut LE:
Mutt 6 CG -Blade- Differentially heat treated SR101 .24 thick, saber grind M6 style blade, with a swedge like the one on the Dogfather (available in tanker, black and green). -Grip- respirene C(S6/Dogfather type), slightly protruding tang approximately 1/4 (Same width and thickness as the tang, square w/rounded corners)
Mutt 6 Double Cut LE -Blade- Differentially heat treated SR101 .25 thick, full flat grind M6 style blade, no/swedge. -Grip- respirene C(S6/Dogfather type), slightly protruding tang approximately 1/4 (Same width and thickness as the tang, square w/rounded corners)
The SYKCO Mutt 6. A true mutt!
If I win can I have a Mutt 6 CG tanker and a Mutt 6 Double Cut LE?

jdigi, welcome to the Yard. This thread has been going on for a long time, not sure if anything ever came from it.

Thanks for the welcome sumoj275.
I figured nothing would come of it but I didn't want to pass up the chance to share my knife dreams. Great knife forums are like free therapy for me. That is unless you count $$$$ I spend on my steel addiction!!!!!
