If you ever have a shot at an SS4 take it. Awesome knife.

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

.
Out of all of my collection less than 11" of blade, the ones I really treasure the most are the SS4, S5LE, Ratmandu, and NMSFNO. I spent at least a month looking for an SS4 for my dad for christmas last year with no luck, then I put up a WTB on bladeforums and got 3 responses and took them up on all of them. I just can't say enough about the SS4 and S5. There is a substantial size diference but I think both are easily the best blades available in their size range. I'm hoping I'll like the BushWhacker even more than the NMSFNO.

If you don't already have an S5 and you see a Ratmandu before you find one, it is a very worthy substitute.

I've been working on hand-full-convexing an SS4, RMD, and S5LE for several weeks and I'm really happy with it. I moved twice in 6 months and haven't recovered yet but if I can find my camera stuff I'll put up some pictures.

Nobody can touch Scrapyard INFI. I'm really feeling the INFIcoot though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I'd love to see Scrapyard re-release the SS4 again, looks like a sweet knife.

I'd jump all over a 154CM version. It would never replace my INFI but it would be a great cost savings vs SS4 secondary market and some people might actually prefer a true stainless for that size blade. I like things easier to sharpen but I'd still get several, especially if they dropped down the thickness to .125-.15.

I really like the SS4. These are old pictures. The knife is a little
more "used <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />" now.

I have had 154CM folder by another manufacturer(who will go un-named),as did 2 of my co-workers .And found that steel easy to sharpen ,but it did not hold an edge for very long.
How does the SY knives with this steel do? any info appreciated.
regards,SSB.

scrap yard 154cm is kind of tough to sharpen, but holds an edge REALLY well, and can stand up to a lot of abuse too, compared to most 154cm's....
