Morning Todd! Jared, a trot line is just a long line anchored in the ground or a tree/limb and has several hooks on it. It could be 20-30 feet long or more with hooks (about a 12-18 inch leader on each hook) tied to the master line and just thrown in the water with a weight on the end to keep it down. Just come back and check it in the morning.

Jug fishing. Tie a long line onto a plastic jug, toss it in and pick up when you think about it. Oh it's good to have your name and stuff on it.
