I went with the 45 1911 instead of the 9, hopefully next week, mid week or so

Oh ok. I think you will like a 45. I have always used Cor-bon ammo in mine. They make a WICKED 200 grain "flying ashtray" round at +p speeds. It's got a hollowpoint big enough to hold a buick!

I'll have to look into that brand, seems like every shoots the 230 grain over the lighter weights, know any reason for that?

Personally I think it is tradition. The 45acp was I THINK desgined to shoot a 230gr round nose (FMJ) bullet. Plus even tho that round is noted for not expanding it still makes a hole close to a half inch across!

Plus back "in the day" not a lot was done to make the 45's feed reliably with anything round nose bullets. Now days, as far as I know, all good QUALITY 45s will shoot hollow points really well. I have 3 45s and they all shoot them just fine. FYI
