Besides giving him the Nazi Luftschutz helmet (They are the unit that shot down my grandpa in WWII) I found at flea market, I am bringing my audio gear and photo gear and making a audio, video slide show documentary on him. I want the next generation of Peaces to know who they came from. His generation is dying off and I don't want to forget. I am going to focus on his war experience and his relationship with my late grandmother.
Awesome bit of family trivia:
Grandpa and grandma lived in the same tiny farm town when they grew up. The day she was born in her house (no hospital for hundreds of miles), my grandpa held her in his arms as he did the moment she passed.

How much older was he? I think you are doing something VERY fine JJ. I commend you for your thoughtfulness and love for your Grandpa and family history. I can't track mine back past One Great Grandfather on my Dad's side.

He was five the first time he saw her and 91 the last. That is an 86 year relationship. They started dating in middle school. Never broke up.

Wow. There is a couple in our church that has been married for over 70 years. He will be 97 in June and she will be 93 in August. The are both in quite bad health now and in a nursing home. But they still come to church almost every Sunday.
