I am lucky I am surrounded by 1.6 million acres of National forest. But they are closing off trails like nobodies business.

I´ve never rode an ATV.

I live in a city now so I have to take my ATV's to a trail head. I used to live across the rode from the area where I ride and play. But we moved to town to help take care of my wifes mother.

Why are they closing trails? You can walk there can´t you?

Yesterday I saw a TV program about Colorado and Utah. The host was hiking with a guide starting from Carson city (I think it was that... Ghost town it was for sure.) 40km to somewhere across the mountains and the nature was really giving hard time for them! Thunder, rain and hail! I was thinking that there wasn´t too much use for a hammock..!

Well guys, glad I could be part of the fun, but I've got to find some lunch and start getting ready for work.

T1, they are closing trails to motorized use. You can still walk on them if you can get there.

Environmentalists pay big dollars so they lobby to close off huge tracts of public land. In reality it keeps all but a few from enjoying it. I am all for a well marked and regulated trail system. I think they should shut down and enforce the use of ilegal trails. But they are closing off traditional marked legal trails and forcing more use of popular trail systems. Its the reason I only go trail riding during the week.

Utah has it together pretty well for motorized use of trails. Its a constant battle though. I wish Colorado would get its act together more.

I can understand that illegal trails are watched and banned but the legal ones should stay there so that nature loving people can get to the nature!

The biggest problem is people move here from The East and West coast and don't understand the way of life in Colorado. They want to live here and make it just as bad as where they left.
