Gamelands borders our place...I have 1,000 acres that I can hunt all over and usually not see a soul. Only one public access point and it's on the other side of the property.

Fishing is a little drive, but within 30 minutes I can be on 3 different lakes and probably 20 rivers and trout streams.

i am lucky too, we have great fishing close by.
But if i want to ice fish, then i guess 2 hours drive would get me to the closest frozen lake
i can dear hunt about 1/2 drive from home

I'd like to try ice fishing sometime. Sounds as much a social event as a sport.

At this lake it is rainbow trout.

How big do they get there?

this is a stocked lake
the winning trout is usually 4 to 6 lbs but most are under 2 lbs

there is usually 175 to 200 people on the lake for the tourny

Oh man, don't think I have EVER caught a fish that weighed more than 3 pounds in my life!

About same as our stock fish down here.

i think the giggest i ever got out of that lake was about three pounds

I caught a bowfin one time that weighed 14 lbs, that's my biggest ever. Biggest bass was almost 10 lbs. Biggest trout was probably 3 or so.
