The one blade I'm having a hard time getting sharp is my M-9. The blade has a very slight recurve and my stones don't touch enough of the blade to sharpen it.

I think the lowest grit I have is 400 grit. But I'm determined to keep it convex if at all possible.

Just keep sharpening and you will eventually get the curve out of it, or learn to use an Eze-lap model M diamond hone on it.

LOL its going to take years to get the blade straight on that one. But I have a new set of stones coming in. One with a bit more bite to it. It may help.

I've been looking at some diamond stones, just to add to what I already use. I don't have a bench stone coarse enough to reprofile or handle a really dull blade.

Todd, you could get a duo stone, Course/extra Course and that would probably take care of all your sharpening problems. The course side would work for a really good using edge and the Xcourse side would bring back any kind of dullness to a good place and then finish up with the other side. I VERY seldom use a fine stone.

I was looking at one that was coarse/fine, I figured it would do just fine along with what I already use.

A coarse/fine is the one I plan on getting sometime, either the 8 or 10 inch size.

Try this out, the one on the right is the coarse/fine
