I inherited mine, they were not that common when i was a kid.
The big thing was cassettes and for awhile 8 tracks

i like analog sound for what it is. more character... digital music production took away may of the artifacts that some people had gotten used to. even the pops and clicks or hiss of a tape cassette. it's sort of like adding flourescent lights to a room. you may seem more in the room but it also screws with the ambience and reveals that big spot on the carpet that previously sat in the shadows.

Who knows what they will have 100 years from now, it there IS a 100 years from now.
