Good to hear about the Harrts! I´ve seen some commercials about it but never heard any user comments.

Personally I would be satisfied with any of the "Name brand" 45s. BUT I would make sure to "Break it in" with A MINIMUM, MINIMUM of 200 jam free shots before carrying it for defense/work. Also get some GOOD magazines. Many of the "Failure to feed" problems are because of faulty magazines.

I´m thinking about getting a full sized 5" barrel single stack 1911. A really basic / traditional model that is quality made and has some modern improvements. I´m not interested about the 2011 models nor the full blooded racers.

I think that Colt you mentioned would be a very good gun. Novak sights are noted for their durability and quality along with the other parts as well. You might send Sumo and MB a Pm asking their thoughts, as they are more into guns, are more up to date about them than I am.

For about a Year I carried my 5 inch colt single stack 45 as my duty weapon and never had a problem with it. Only reason I switched was I had a Sig P225 (which I LOVE) single stack 9mm and was offered a 45 used and got it and then started carrying it as the "Cocked and locked" carry of the Colt made some folks nervous. And I would not hesitate to carry it (the colt) again.

How about NYC shutting down public transit tomorrow at noon. Crazy, it hasn't made landfall yet has it? One of the many reasons I love living far inland and high ground.

Philly is shutting down its transportation system as well, they're not even waiting to see if anything is going to happen. But then everything shuts down for a few inches of snow as well.
