Very true TT. The LE would be for special things, maybe a forced patina if I ever talk myself into doing one.

Tuf-Cloth works. The only problem is I use knives on food. I keep tuf-cloth on some of my carbon choppers that dont see food use. I keep olive oil or mineral oil on the edges of my coated knives and have not had any issues. One of my swamp wardens has several scratches through the coating from sand being caught in the kydex but no rust yet.

I would think that even if sand sticks to the mineral oil it will still be protected. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
