Great post and pics RN! Nice chop off to show the strengths of each. If you want to try a nice machete that can also chop, pick up an esee lite machete. It out chops some of my "choppers" costing 5-6 times as much! It has really decent steel and a very good micarta handle. The factory sheath sucks royally, at least it did on mine, but the 'chete itself rocks.
Now if someone can just get Dan drunk enough to make us that Dogchete....

A machete should be thin, but that is absurdly thin for anything more than twigs and vines. I used a BRK Golok and that was amazing. I would still rather have my battle rat, even though it ate through wood like a rabid beaver on steroids!!!
