I agree with most of what you are saying

My thoughts are that it's a great camp knife to use for cooking or meat processing. I like the slim blade, but I wish it was a 4 inch blade instead if 5 inches. I just feel 4 inches is about the best practical size for a blade of that thickness. Just try a Mora and you'll see what I mean.

For my uses, a 4 inch knife just leaves me wanting more. I always carry a large folder, 3 1/2" and up, but sometimes I just need more, especially in a fixed blade. I'm not using it to process game though. I am in the bush or in the yard and there is always rope, vines, shaping a limb, trimming around a tree, etc. 5 inches carries easily - no need to tie it down when I am running.

Anything bigger than that and I just go big - 10 inches or more.

For hunting I prefer around 4" but for a knock around bush knife anything is fine

Just too close to Christmas for me to buy I think

Contact the guy who did your test
He should have sent a copy in to the CFC and may have kept a copy for his records

I've cleaned and skinned a deer with an Izula before. Unless you're chopping or batonning I think 4 inches is about right. But everyone's different and that's just my opinion.

And Bill, you're right. It's hard to order anything for myself this close to Christmas. Maybe after, since I get paid again on the 27th.

I was taught to skin a deer with a pocket knife
My uncle rarely carried a hunting knife
However he skinned and butchered his deer at home

I just realized that I use larger knives in the kitchen, too - say 6 to 8 inches. I learned to cook from my mother and grandmother. I don't remember my grandmother using a paring knife for anything.
