Yes, they are both muddy brown (originally called night ops brown I believe) on tan canvas micarta. Muddy on tan is my favorite combo, but sage on tan is a close second.

I haven't found it to be too red, but the coatings change slightly. I have a muddy 511 that is slightly different than my ASHBM.
