This morning I finished my project of stripping my SY Knives down to the steel. I am not recommending this. The crinkle coating is there to protect the steel from rust. I just like the look of bare steel, so I will have to keep these blades oiled. You might notice the unfinished look of the blades. This makes sense as the coating will stick better to a rough surface than a polished one. It also saves a lot of labor and time, keeping SYKCO prices competitive. The unfinished look appeals more to me than the painted look. This is what I used. Now you know what is under the crinkle coat.
