I am not a lanyard fan, the only one I have is a simple Paracord loop on my Howling Rat.
I am of the same belief for the most part, however, for blades that I take out in the desert, a bright lanyard is key for a dropped knife. My dad dropped his Bandicoot the last time we were out and a bright lanyard would have saved us some time. I don't use them when I carry EDC though.
