I love the maxpedition set up you have. The Mutt is perfect for a survival knife but a bit thick for an EDC.

I was thinking that a mora a firesteel and a few water purification tablets as a cheap emergency survival kit. I have a big one with a Cold Steel Spetznaz shovel but the little one would be very cheap enough so you could stash one in your boat,car or anywhere.
