The Yard Keeper, the HRLM, the Ratmandu, Dumpster Mutt, or SS4 are all hard use small knives that won't break the bank. I think the Busse BATAC would be good, too. I just thought it was ridiculous that he had to have a $720 knife when he had been getting by with < $100 ones. His knife is nice enough, I guess.
