Has anyone noticed that the Ratmandu is a reworked Dumpster Mutt? The Mutt is thicker. The choil and tang is different. The Rat lacks a penetrator tip. But the blade shape and saber grind look identical to me.
The functional difference is that the Ratmandu can slice. The Mutt is too thick for efficient cutting. It does have its place. I keep a Mutt in my urban emergency bag. As a compact entry tool and pry-bar that happens to have an edge, the Mutt is great. If a knife is first and foremost a cutting instrument, the Mutt leaves a lot to be desired.
The Dumpster Mutt LE may be an acceptable compromise. With a full height grind and “only” a ¼” thickness, it is certain to out cut the Classic Mutt. I hope it will match the Ratmandu. But the proof of the pudding is in the cutting.
