Personally I like the lack of a manual safety.
For defensive purposes, I don't personally want to have to think of much more than identifying my target and pulling the trigger. I like simplicity.
I like the way the 1911 style guns shoot and I think the best looking guns tend to be 1911 style, but I don't care for all of the safety and lever devices everywhere. They contradict instinctive function. (IMO).
...... yeah .... I know practice practice and all that. Safety .. Safety and all too.
But, I like the concept of simplicity in self defence:
- identify, point and shoot. ..... And shoot a bunch more. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I would rather focus on keeping my barrel pointed in the right direction than have to think about safeties.
And for safey, I actually feel a little more comfortable with a Glock and it's mechanism than a 1911 cocked and locked.
They both have their pros and cons to me still.
