Just out of morbid curiosity, what IS your favorite hard use steel Chaos? Ever have any experience with Starrett (sp?) tool steel in a blade...?
:
I prefer the knife at the bottom of this page
http://www.mooremaker.com/ I use one extensivley except it has handles made from Cow "shin Bones" jigged. Nothing fancy. Not sure of the exact steel that they use, but it is high carbon and Rust if you look at it funny. Clean and dress out upwards of 20 deer a season plus countless feral hogs year round. They take an edge very well and hold it even better. I've field dressed, skinned and quartered 3 deer in a single setting on ONE blade without ever hitting a whet stone. The blade is too thin on thier fixed blade model or I'd be using one of them for Pelvis duty.
I have NO experience with Starret steel. I use an old Ka-bar currently, but it's coming apart from repeated use.
