The same reason I am getting an Off Duty.....I like short FAT knives.....why wouldn't you want one?
Because cutting performance is severely impacted as you go thicker and cutting (as opposed to chopping) is generally what you do with a 4-5" knife. I'm all for thick blades on Dog Fathers, Battle Rats, Battle Mistresses, etc., just not the little blades. If thicker is better, why not make an SS4 out of 1/2" or 5/8" stock, why stop at .28"? But to each their own.
