By jove, I think we've got it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Here comes the Busse Becker !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I don't know that I would go around combining Becker with Busse products (????)....
"If" ... (stress on "If") ... Busse purchased some 50100-B "stock" material steel from another company, Busse would still be doing their own heat treating and design.
So, no real connection to Becker or Camillus other than using the same type of raw steel that they may have just purchased as raw materials from another maker at a discount instead of two makers purchasing the same materials from a wholeseller of raw stock steel.
Other knife makers use 52-100 as well, but we don't connect Swamp Rat to others.
Bark River used 0170-6 on their Northwind and Golok, but we don't tie them to Cold Steel Carbon V.
The heat treatment and end design are significant distinguishing factors.
I probably beat this more than needed and I am sure Bruce was just joking, but I feel we should keep any mention of Becker, Camillus, Carbon V or other similar terms out of discussions about "possible" or even if and when actual knives are made by Busse with 0170-6.
Where the raw material "may" have been purchased is not really significant or relevant to the end product.
