I was taught in the Navy to pull your knees to your chest. In addition when I got certified to Ice Dive I was taught that as well. The premise if that it'll stop the flow of water around your core chest area. I never could figure out how to keep your hear afloat. I figured the best thing to do was avout frozen water.

I've also read a couple of articles telling about how to rig a couple of Ice picks to aid you in the event of an accidental break through on the ice. I don't remember all the details though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
