Thanks Vic, I've been using the tuf-cloths for a few months now thanks to your prior recommendations in previous posts.
Bruce, in a perfect world tools would be cleaned right after use. When I get home from a camping trip the first thing I do is unpack everything, inspect it then clean and lube what needs cleaning and lubing, however, if I spend a day hiking into a secret trout spot, spend a day fishing and another day hiking out I go in with as little gear as possible. If it starts to drizzle halfway through the first day and continues off and on the next two my equipment isn't going to get a proper cleaning until I get back. I love my Scrap Yard Knives and believe they are the best knife made period. At the same time I want a knife that will handle the above situation and clean up from it when I get back. That means nothing more than a little surface rust that will easily come off when I get home.
basically, you're going to be using it for three or four days straight. I actually wouldn't worry about it, even if you just wipe it off on your pant leg or something clean and dry after use and then use it the next few days without colmplete cleaning or lubing I'm sure it will be fine. doublecut finishes are pretty resistant to rust aren't they? thats what I thought, at least.
