I've got a pair of Danner "Ft. Lewis" model winter boots - and i had some Rockies I think (same boot - built a little cheaper - Army cold weather issue). I had some Mickey Mouse boots issued - but never wore them. You'll sweat your feet off in them - they don't breathe! I suggest a good pair of goretex lined winter booths with booties (2 pairs of booties, swap them out when one pair gets sweaty) and some good wool socks. Wicking is the key - just like the poly pros - same with your boots.

Cotton kills! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Wool and Fiber-pile Poly are the way to go.

normally when I'm out in the cold, I do so much running around and stuff I get hot, only my hands get cold.
so I would want boots that breath really good and are comfortable, I guess heavy isn't too bad, but my feet would sweat more.
I saw a video where a guy put plastic bags on his feet so his boots didn't get wet on the inside.

and I don't like spending alot of money on boots...honestly I'd like to spend 60 or under...

and what are poly pros, and what is wicking?
