To be fair everything costs more when you have to ship it that far north.
It is 12$ for a gallon of milk in the far north part of Saskatchewan. Gas is still at least a buck$ a litre everywhere in Canada and in Europe often 3 times that. No wonder they have such crappy little cars. Really gas should cost about 2$ a litre or 7$ a gallon to accurately reflect the costs of all the enviromental damage and the subsidization. We ship gas to the US but pay more for it than the people we sell it to.

I hate public transit with a vengeance and love 500HP muscle cars but really I could get by with my bike to drive fast and a 750cc UTV for around town. There is a outfit in my town that sells 14 years or older(import law) jap import cars and trucks and they have these cool little 1.6 litre diesel 4x4's that can haul as big a stuff as my 5.0 litre GMC half ton although not as much weight.

Our cars and trucks in north america are very inefficient. As it is we can't even get the most efficient types of cars due to protectionist laws. I would not want a tiny little UTV as my only car but it would make a fantastic second vehicle. I would myuch rather send my teenager out in a UTV with a rollcage and a 70KM per hour top speed than some old beater Chev. I would keep the GMC for hauling and bad weather.
