I'm new to the forum but I just got back from a day in the woods (i did actually carve a spoon) I think the term bushcraft definitely varies from person to person but I do think that the underlying thing for all of us is enjoyment in being in outdoors and possibly returning to civilization with a sense of accomplishment, be it starting a fire, building a shelter, carving a spoon or surviving off the land its the small "moral victories" that we seem to derive pleasure from.
I swear that I do more or less the same thing every time i go into the woods and really ain't the most skilled but its nice to get out of the concrete jungle even if it always seems to be on a rainy saturday <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
