I'd like a cutlass, with full wrap around basket guard if it's a one hand sword. Otherwise, I'd need it to be a two-hand katana-style blade. I voted no, not because I'm not interested in a sword, but the design wasn't what I'd look for, and the question stated, "similar to the one pictured above". I don't know how thick that blade would be, but if it was proportional the the blade width, I would expect it to be too heavy for one-hand use, possibly even impractical with a longer two-handed grip. I'm not an expert, but I think a blade with those proportions would handle more like an ax than a sword.

I almost didn't post my comment because it's critical of the proposed design and I don't want any hard feelings. However, for a sword to have any utility as a modern weapon, it has to be fast -- speed kills.
