for a while I have wondered how hard it would be to rehandle a Yard knife. I did a Cold Steel SRK as an experiment a while back, but I keep wanting to try rehandling another knife! I've got a SOG Seal 2000 that I took the handle off of, but I never got around to putting anything back on it. I really want to give it a try a good non-stainless knife like my Yard Guard or DM.

I suspect that the hardest part would be making the holes in the tang for the pins. You'd have to anneal the knife to drill it, then re-heat treat it when you were done, which would probably wreak havoc on the paint.

You might get away with torching or plasma cutting the holes?

Also, I suspect the tang in these knives wouldn't be the exact shape of your handle so you'd be looking at either a hidden style or some kind of epoxy fill between your slabs to bring the gap flush.

I wonder if anyone's cut the respirene off a DM to have a look at it?
