Res-C holds up pretty well with kydex making, I've been doing it for quite some time with no problems. You might want to add a layer of painters tape for a little added protection though. Also another suggestion, smooth and round the edge of the kydex that will be in contact with the Res-c. The hard sharp edge will occasionally leave a mark across the handle from the pressure, however it will usually smooth back out on it's own in a few hours.
