I agree (like there are going to be a lot of people on here that don't) that a knife is an essential tool to have at all times. I take an annual camping trip with a group of friends who don't carry knives. They all make fun of the fact that I have a couple on me at all times during the trip, but I am also the guy they all go to as soon as something needs opened or cut. Happens several times every day.
I also bought my wife a small SAK that she now carries every day and finds constant uses for. From opening food packages to clipping threads to tweezing spinters and so on...
I can't imagine not having a knife. I travel to Minnesota every week right now and had to buy a folder to keep here so I would not be without one.
