Now this is a discussion! Classical swordsmanship teaches to cut down an opponent with one or two moves, usually a parry followed by a killing cut, or a wounding cut followed by a killing cut,or a one move killing blow as you stated.Practitioners of Kenjutsu,Kendo,Iaido, and the two sworded Nito styles are taught to parry only when necessary using the back or flat of the blade. The samurai believed their swords to be part of their soul and even a well forged katana of the utmost quality wouldn't last very long clanging edge to edge with other swords. I had the rare opportunity to hold a 600 yr. old katana that belonged to a private collector and I was in awe,the guy even had an insurance policy on it. I hope i'm not sounding like a know-it-all here ,but i've studied ancient japanese history for 17 years now and am also an avid martial artist,it's cool to find some people who obviously share the same obsession for steel, be it japanese, chinese, european, whatever. anyway theres no doubt in my mind that a scrapyard sword would ROCK!
