With the same thickness edges 154 will hold an edge longer and the powder steels are all different but 154 can be run quite thin. My Emerson was wicked sharp.
The fact that it is so hard to sharpen (is remove metal) bodes very well for it's edge holding.
It also says good things about the heat treat as I don't remember other companies 154 blades being this hard to remove metal on.

It might take a diamond or ceramic sharpener to make it easier although you can sharpen any knife with stone just "super" steels like 154 and S30V often take so darn long to remove metal that it seems impossible. I decided to take a break and get back at it after I am done my SH-E polishing.

I actually prefer a skelly like a Swarden to a folder so long as you have a good sheath. A quality sheath with a pocket clip and you can wear a skelly clipped to your pants pocket just like a folder only thinner(so more concealable)and faster to get out. My preferred method is around the neck where the Swarden is ideal.
