most any of the Scrapyard knives would work, I would be hesitent to baton with the mple but other than that. I have seen videos of the swamp warden used for batoning, it all depends on what size wood you want to split. And by me saying I wouldn't use the mple is not a knock on the knife or steel, stainless steel however is inheritantly not as strong as carbon steel and is used more in hunting/fighting types of knives rather than hard use camping knives.
