Fantastic post Tyger and some yummy looking fish but you could not wait 1 more day until I safely had my BD socked away before letting people know how good it was?

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Sorry Unsub; I may have made it hard for myself to get one for my dad as well! Eeep! And he's serious about taking mine! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

BTW: is this fly fishing you're doing?
or do you use spinning gear or something?

and is this from shore???

We did our fishing from shore; there are large banks that lead out into the lake and up and down the stream, making it ideal for shore fishing these guys as they swim upstream to lay their eggs and all.

Dad and I were using a couple of my Abu Garcia and Okuma spinning reels on 7' Okuma rods. I had eight pound test line on mine; dad went with a 12 pound test line on his.

Oddly, he had the heavier line, but kept having the fish break off his line all night. He probably hooked over a dozen fish, but all of them either slipped the hook, or broke it off. He was having an off night. He's hoping to have a better one next weekend.

We were using half ounce egg weights, that were slip knotted about 12 -14 inches up from the small bait hook (A laserbeak #10 or 12, depending on what we felt like using), which then had the row/roe sack (as seen in the last pic) on it. We tied a bunch of different sizes, varying from 4 up to 8 eggs in the mesh with at least one float ball per 2 eggs. We also soaked some in Garlic oil, and others in some Star Anise extract (Black Licorice smell). I honestly found I had more hits off the Anise extract scented eggs than anything else.

Pretty crazy, huh?

I'm glad you guys like the pics; hopefully, I'll have some more up next weekend.

JYD#70 Warning! There are more than just dogs in this yard!
