I wash my knives in Joy and tap water, dry them and stick them back in their Rainwalker sheaths. To this day I have never had any rust.
I'm with you, PoP. I also use dishwashing liquid to clean my blades. If they need more than that, I use Maas Metal Polish. That's usually all I do to protect my stainless blades. On my carbon steel blades I use Ren Wax as an additional layer of protection.

Other than my BOB blades, I don't store my knives in sheaths. And I'd never store a knife in a leather sheath. I've read enough horror stories about staining and corrosion resulting from storing knives in leather sheaths to avoid doing that. I'm also unaware of any knifemaker (or sheathmaker for that matter) who recommends storing knives in leather sheaths.

Well I guess now you have Bruce! I've stored my blades both stainless and carbon in leather for years with little or no problems. As long as both knife and sheath are cared for properly IT"S NOT A PROBLEM!!!!!

What good is a knife if it's not ready to use when you need it!

To me there's no better place to store a good knife, than in a good sheath!
