Howdy dogs. Well i got my first scrapyard in the form of a tan SOD and I love this thing. I immediately took it out and chopped and battoned some firewood with it. I went home to NYC for the holdiays and brought it along to show my friends. While I was there I used it some more and built three or four campfires with it and my gerber strikforce. Anyway I go into mastersmiths, which is a custom knife store in the city. I arranged for them to make a sheath for me, they do and it sucks. I dont know how but the res-c handle has chipped and flaked where the knife is inserted to the kydex...I think the sheath maker must have really really hammered it in there after making it too tight...Like I said I had already put some good use on the blade but it was shaving sharp...when I got this sheath and saw the damage to the handle I was speechless..I dont view my knives as jewlery and dont mind signs of honest use but this is just a sign of carelessness and a reminder that my brand new knife is already dis-honestly blemished...I am suprised the res-c has chipped this way..Eating up thick knotty seasoned wood no problem...plastic sheath mars my handle...really disapointed in this sheath expereince...just had to rant to my fellow dogs who I imagine understand my frustrations..I will try and post some picstures of the damage...
Cheers
