Actually, I find having the choil a very useful thing.

With the SOD being a bit blade heavy, if I need to do
something that requires more of a balanced blade, the
ability to move my hand further up the blade for better
balance is nice.

Of course I do like mcjh does and have a secondary knife
with me at all times, that is smaller and better able to
accomplish tasks suited to a small blade. However, in
the event that I find myself with only one blade available
to me, I do like the option of being able to choke up on
the blade in case I only have the one knife available to me.

Just my opinion tho.
