Horn Dog, we didn't get any snow on the ground this year until just before Christmas... Usually we get it just before Thanksgiving, and once, for Halloween. With something as big as a planet, no system responds instantly. More what seems to be the trend for the moment is extremes in different places. Especially hurricanes, which have picked up in frequency quite a bit in the later half of the 20th.

Imagine dropping a bit of dye into a jar of water. It doesn't just instantly dissolve, it forms swirls and ribbons as it slowly disperses, showing local extremes until settling into a uniform color.
