i keep a pretty extensive BOB and PSK in my trunk.i actually have 2 setups, one for winter and one for summer.
the weather and elements during the winter here would leave you dead if you where on your own and and didnt have the right gear.winter survival especially if your trudging through and/or working in deep snow with heavy clothing on will really burn a whole lot of calories quick and if i had to guess i'd say maybe even twice as quick.
so with that said i've been thinking about survival food for my BOB with the most important factors being high in calories, doesnt need to be cooked and lightweight and not too bulky.
so far all i can come up with is powerbars, nuts and jerky.i know all those are real high in protein but they dont seem to be too high in calories which i feel is more important than protein and vitamins if one where to be stranded and have to travel a good distance.
i've run out of calories on long hikes and had an almost hypoglycemic episode and it was scarry because i could barely walk and was miles from the car.luckily i had a few granola bars and some juice and eventually got my strength back after resting for awhile.
so any ideas dogs,ruff.
