Now that the rain has finally ended, time to check out my yard and the little fern swamp. My wetlands have returned.



As soon as it dries, I have some mowing to do, but for now, I can enjoy the wildflowers that have sprung up.



My drainage ditch is full. That's a good sign that the swamp may have returned.



Down the old trial I went, so far, so good.



Unless I want to get wet, this is as far as I can go on this trail.



I'll have to hack my way through this thick stuff to get to the fern swamp. If I had my old boots on, I'd just wade the trail. It would be easier going for this fat old man. I used my Busse SAR7 Bowie (not available in stores) as a machete.





At last, I'm at the swamp. The ferns are coming to life. In a week it will be a green lush jungle of them.
