The lady friend had some family on Oahu, but most of them were in Hilo. We spent an even amount of time around Hilo and then Waikiki over the course of the two trips with her. Honestly, I don't ever want to stay at a hotel near down town Waikiki again. It seems like the San Francisco of Hawaii to me. If I wanted to drive through a congested city, I can to that here in California.

Interestingly enough, the guy that has the surfboard shop out here who helped me shape my two surfboards in my surfboard thread lived in Hawaii a bit. I guess he grew up in California, got married, moved to Hawaii near Waikiki where his in-laws were, started his surfboard company, then moved back to the central California coast making surfboards. He's a pretty cool guy and I'm glad that he seems so cool with teaching me how to shape surfboards. Granted that I had to pay a little extra for his instruction, but it's cool.

Oh, just saw your duct tape comment! Hilarious! Whatever works!
