Thanks for the in put guys...many re-affirm my own thoughts/experiences to date...of the knives I have which have been used and carried and which I would be happy picking...the FSH, NMSFNO, Basic 9 and DFLE...these are the top ones for me for "carrying" and more recently I like my Hossum Combat Machete but the length of this knife needs a cross draw and not a rear slant carry which works best for me...the same is true for my NMFBM which in my golok issue sheath can be worn as a cross draw set up but it does "bounce" more then the other Hossum knife in this position if moving quickly.
My none Bussekin proven performers are my Voight Amazon and my CS Gurkha Khukri and I used a Blackjack Marauder as well for a long time. Another briefly used was Lofty Wiseman's Survival Tool which is very similar to the Marauder.
My NFBM is really something I would put in my Bergan...ditto the Hossum because of the length...and also my FBM...the CS Khukri has a massive kydex sheath and to some extent unless I were using my other custom leather sheath I did...if I had to use the kydex sheath it would probably go in the Bergan as well.
These thoughts have been prompted because of the KZ which I may be able to aquire through writing to Jerry...it is likely to be a fair old chunk of money and I wonder if I would use it if it comes in heavier than a FFBM which it must do looking at the size of the knife with a full tang design. I feel sure it will be an awesome chopper but for me the type of Infi Khukri I need would best be described as a khukri based on the "Basic" line of knives with a "lighter" over all weight and maybe a Res C handle so it can have a semi skeleton tang. I am guessing here but if it comes in at 36 ounces...maybe a bit more...I doubt I would want to wear it after the first 10 mile or so.
I consider myself fairly fit in the hills although I am having to get back to full fitness...I presently can do 25 miles in 8 hours in very hilly conditions...and need to gain in stamina to look at 60 miles in 18 hours.
Simon doing 50 miles (if it is in one stint) with a heavy HI Tarwar is a hell of an achievement! Makes me realise I am getting old...LOL...those Swedes are a tough bunch!!!
Anyway...it is with some trepidation that I am perhaps thinking of passing on the KZ...my heart says it is a "Grail" knife...my head says..."it's too heavy".
My Bussekin loyality though will doubtless remain...the NMSFNO and the FSH are almost certainly the two I will use...more the NMSFNO at present as it is still coated ( Sage ) and this passes prior "glare" tests better than the BBDC finish on the FSH. I also like the smoothed magnum grips better...they have been taken down to a perfect fit.
